Black & White Assignment #1
The picture above is the original picture.
The perfect one in my opinion is the first one. I feel that it brings out the detail in the puppy's face. In addition, the puppy stands out from the background. The puppy is white and black, which contrasts from the grey background. I really like how it balances out the two.
In the first picture, I was trying to get the puppy to stand out from the grey background. To accomplish this, I used the levels tool and moved the triangles just a little. In the second picture, I was wanting to make it have more contrast. In order to accomplish this I first went to the levels tool and moved the black triangle up a little bit. I then went and dodged the puppy's ear, nose, and eyes. I did this so that the black could stand out more than the white part of the puppy. The goal for the third picture was to make the puppy's face stand out more than the rest of the picture. I also wanted to make the background of this picture more grey. In this picture, I used the dodge and burn tool and dodged the puppy's face. The reason the puppy's forehead in this picture is so white is due to how the picture was taken beforehand. In fourth picture, I wanted to make the puppy look more warm. To accomplish this, I first went and made the picture black and white, and then I went a played with the level tool. After I got the contrast and brightness to where I wanted it, I went and put the Sepia preset on it. The last picture, I wanted to make the puppy look more cool toned. To accomplish this, I repeated the same process as I did with the Sepia, but instead of the Sepia preset I went and clicked on the Cool Tone preset. Overall, each picture has something that I really like. However, my favorite of the five would have to be the first one.
Nicely done. This image isn't one that I would necessarily have thought would have worked well in b&w, but you have managed to do it. I agree with your assessment of the first image, with perhaps your cooltone version coming in second for me.
ReplyDeleteI love your cooltone photo! It really stands out from the others and has a really interesting vibe. I feel like the puppy is 3D! Awesome work!
ReplyDeleteOkay, first thing's first. This puppy is the cutest!!! But also, I really like this image. I really like the way you framed the puppy. I think the second image is my favorite. I like the high contrast and the way the shadows really jump out!
ReplyDeleteok, this puppy in a basket is SO adorable! the first one is defiantly my favorite because the edit makes his little nose stand out the best. but the last one is super cute too!
ReplyDeleteCute puppy! I feel like the differences in the first three are very slight but noticeable. They are all well edited though great work!
ReplyDeleteHi Hannah! This is so cute! You did an amazing job on keeping each picture balanced. When working on focusing on the lighting of one thing you were able to still keep such great detail in the puppy and along with the basket! Great Job!
