All Roads Lead Home 

We all take specific roads to get home. No matter which road or roads you take to get home, interstates, highways, backroads, etc., each has its unique landscape that surrounds it . This series, All Roads Lead Home is meant to show that no matter what roads or roads you take to get home, each one tells of a journey that has been traveled many times. This concept is important to me because I often get so caught up in the driving or just get caught up in listening to what is happening on the radio that I forget to truly appreciate what is happening outside of my car. The roads I take to get home are all similar but do have some distinct differences. 

To create this series, I started my drive home on a particular day and stopped at certain points on the road home. The spots I chose to stop at are the ones I felt had either the most colorful surroundings or had the most distinct road markings. I did this for each of the eight roads I take to get home. In addition, some of the roads I take to get home have very distinct lines on them while others have little to no lines at all. While all of these are a part of my journey home, each tells a different story.

I hope that when these photos are viewed the viewer will understand that within each twist and turn, bump or smooth patch that each is a part of the journey that gets them home. In addition, I also hope the viewer understands the differences in the landscape. Most of the photos that are in this series are more of a country road setting. Some individuals may not necessarily know what country roads are due to the fact they come from a city setting. No matter where they come from they should feel that they are a part of a new journey and should learn that they should see where their journey takes them.

    I really enjoyed this concept, that the road my take to get home are in a physicals since but a mental state as well. They say it about the journey not always the destination and I think you did a great job at expressing that. You photos are absolutely beautiful as well. Great Job!

Positive or negative words can leave a lasting impression on everyone. Negative words break us down and positive words build us up. Therefore, I went with the theme/concept of words can either break us or make us. In order for my theme to relate to my portraits, I first started with each of my subject remembering a time when someone hurt his or her feelings. Colorful Flowers Bring Me Joy

 One thing I do not think most people realize about me is that I love taking pictures of colorful and bright flowers. In fact, my favorite flower is a Sunflower. The reason I love sunflowers so much is because they are bright and tall. I was once told by an old friend of mine that we can learn a lesson from sunflowers. Sunflowers remind us to stand tall and shine bright. I took this picture this past summer when I visited a sunflower patch.  The picture below was taken when I went on a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico. This was my first time being outside of the United States. When we actually arrived on the land, there was many different colored flowers and buildings everywhere. The scenery was very eye opening to me because it did not look like what I was used to back home. Overall, I would definitely go back and take even more pictures than I did before. Assignment #2

  Depth of Field With this photo, I really like how the Ace of Spades stands out from the rest of the deck of cards due to the shallow depth of field. In addition, I like how once I played around with the colors it made it look like something you would see at a magic show.  At first I was not really sure how I could edit this photo to get it how I wanted it. I like how once I edited this the tree bark is more of a brown color rather than what the original picture showed. I do however like the infinite depth of field. In this photo, I really like how the icicles are sharp and in focus. In addition, I really like how the background is nice and warm feeling while the icicles and snow are very cold feeling. Overall, this picture reminds me of the beauty of the cold.  With this picture I was not really sure I could get the effect I was wanting.
